Country Seclusion

The lady of the house took me to view their garden from an upstairs window. The view was uninspiring and the balance of the garden was slightly askew. She said I want a patio ‘there’ and following some discussion a new hexagonal patio was designed to allow the view of the garden to be enjoyed from the opposite side and a new path to access the patio via the existing hard landscaping. A brick edge to the long border provided a new axis of interest and materials were used to match the existing. In a few years time it will look as though it has always been there.

‘We asked Susan to design a paved seating area in a usually sunny south-facing corner so that we could enjoy more of our garden area, especially as our west facing patio is shaded well into the afternoon. Susan listened to our initial ideas and came up with some additional suggestions which we happily took on board. We knew from the outset that we could work with Susan. She has a friendly, professional approach and an impressive eye for detail. After we agreed on a final design, Susan drew up plans, sourced the materials to match our existing patio and took extra pressure from us by arranging estimates with landscapers. Importantly she managed the project through from start to finish.

The end result is a delightful hexagonal paved area with extended pathway from the existing patio, all of which blends in wonderfully with the house and garden. It’s a pleasure to open the curtains and appreciate the view each morning – and we have Susan to thank for that.’
